Fr. Urban Completes Doctorate

Fr. Urban Osuji completed his doctoral degree at Aquinas Institute of Theology, St. Louis. His thesis project was presented to the staff, faculty, and students of Aquinas Institute. With the topic Effective Preaching: A Practical Guide for Fidei Donum Priests [International Priests] in the Belleville Diocese, Fr. Urban intends to help international priests in our diocese to adapt their preaching for local parishioners. Four years of classroom work and two years of writing the thesis, the effort of Fr. Urban is commendable. We as a parish congratulate him on this achievement.

Local K of C Members Complete their 4th Degree

On Saturday, June 27, nine Knights of Columbus members from Benton and West Frankfort completed the 4th Degree Exemplification. The statewide event was live streamed due to Covid-19 and was hosted locally by District Deputy Harold Campbell with assistance from Louie Ferando. State officer Ken Martinek from Mt. Vernon installed the candidates.

From St. Joseph Parish, we congratulate Ken Hungate, David Stock, David Garavalia, David Spencer, Harry Orlandini, Mike Young, and Jim Yancik. 
West Frankfort candidates were George Karowski and Bryce Levanti.

Food Pantry Needs Help Filling Shelves
The Benton West City Ministerial Alliance Food Pantry needs our help all year long to keep the shelves stocked with food. All donations of non-perishable food items or monetary donations are greatly appreciated. Donations can be brought to the church or taken directly to the Pantry on South Main Street.
