Lent:  An Incredible Opportunity

Lent isn’t about giving up chocolate, or ice-cream, or social media. At its heart, Lent is about turning away from sin, and being faithful to the gospel. Lent is an incredible opportunity to start (or re-start) practices that take you deeper in your relationships with God and with the people around you.

Lent begins on Ash Wednesday, March 6, and services will be held at both 11:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.
Don't waste this rich opportunity to work on your own interior conversion and spiritual growth. Live your Lent with purpose.

Food Pantry Needs Help Filling Shelves
The Benton West City Ministerial Alliance Food Pantry needs our help all year long to keep the shelves stocked with food. All donations of non-perishable food items or monetary donations are greatly appreciated. Donations can be brought to the church or taken directly to the Pantry on South Main Street.

Christopher K of C Council Shines at Southern Friendship Dinner
This year's Knights of Columbus Belleville Diocesan Chapter Friendship Dinner was hosted by the Christopher Knights of Columbus on Saturday October 6. The evening began with Mass celebrated by Fr. Charles Tuttle, associate state chaplain, along with Deacon Mark Kabat from St. Mary Parish, Mt. Vernon.

Following Mass, K of C members and several state dignitaries gathered at the Christopher Columbian Club for dinner and recognition of five honorees:  Al Martin, DuQuoin Council 1298; Deacon Mark Kabat, Mt. Vernon Council 2964; Ted Whitehead, Flora Council 8089; and Fr. Peter Hsu and Batiste John Regis, both deceased members of Christopher Council 3943.

Kudos to the Christopher Knights for an outstanding event that was thoroughly enjoyed by all.
